JOB GRADE:

A. JOB SUMMARY:  Describe the Purpose of this job in 2-3 Sentences.  

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong experience in welding and industrial machinery maintenance, preferably within the timber, plywood, or wood processing industry. The role is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining forklifts, timber production machinery, and construction equipment to ensure safe operations, minimize downtime, and support continuous factory production.

B. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core Responsibilities

Conduct regular inspections of forklifts, timber processing machines, and factory equipment to ensure operational readiness and safety compliance.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to reduce unexpected breakdowns and improve machine reliability.

Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and carry out urgent repair work to minimize production downtime.

Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues related to factory machinery and equipment.

Perform welding and fabrication work to repair and maintain damaged machinery parts, equipment structures, and construction machinery.

10%

Support maintenance and upkeep of construction and heavy equipment used within factory operations.

Ensure all maintenance work is performed according to factory safety standards and support safe machine operation across the production area. Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair history, spare parts usage, and equipment service logs.

C. Job Scope – Group/Business Division or Department Responsibilities (list or explain)

Responsible for maintaining forklifts, timber processing machinery, and factory equipment to support safe and efficient factory operations. The role includes preventive maintenance, machine troubleshooting, welding repair work, and emergency breakdown response to minimize operational downtime.

D. COMMUNICATION COMPLEXITIES:  Indicate the level, purpose and complexity of the communications inside and outside the organization. (Examples:  Across business unit or group communications; Dissemination of information internally, externally or mixed; Negotiations with one party internally or multiple parties externally, etc.) Include any Company spokesperson responsibilities.

Communicate mainly with internal departments including Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance teams regarding machine status, repair updates, maintenance schedules, and operational support.

E. ANALYSIS: Describe the types of problems this job must solve to perform successfully.  Is the process well defined, or must this job develop new approaches to solve these problems?

This role requires identifying and solving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational equipment issues. Routine maintenance follows established procedures, while more complex breakdowns require technical analysis and practical problem-solving skills.

Responsible for prioritizing repair activities, identifying maintenance solutions, and supporting continuous machine operation. Major repair decisions, equipment replacement, and high-cost maintenance work must be escalated to the Maintenance Supervisor or Department Head.

G. INNOVATION: Indicate this job's responsibility for new processes, systems, or products.

Support continuous improvement by recommending practical maintenance solutions, improving equipment reliability, and reducing machine downtime through preventive maintenance and repair efficiency.

H. This is primarily a hands-on technical role. May provide guidance and coordination to junior helpers or maintenance assistants during repair and maintenance activities.

· Minimum 3–5 years of experience in machinery maintenance or industrial equipment repair

· Experience in timber, plywood, wood processing, or manufacturing industry preferred

· Experience in forklift maintenance and welding work is highly preferred

· Experience maintaining construction or heavy equipment is an advantage
