Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and curious Junior MySQL DBA with 1-4 years of experience to join our experienced database team. You will work alongside senior DBAs and engineers to support, maintain, and learn the intricacies of our database systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring day-to-day operational stability while you build the foundational skills needed to grow into a mid-level and senior DBA role. We will invest in your training and provide a clear path for advancement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Operational Support: Perform routine database health checks, monitor system alerts, and execute predefined operational procedures.
• Backup & Recovery: Assist in managing and verifying database backups. Participate in scheduled recovery drills to ensure data durability and learn critical disaster recovery principles.
• User & Access Management: Handle basic user access requests, role assignments, and security permissions following our strict security guidelines.
• Monitoring: Learn to use our monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus) to watch database performance and availability metrics.
• Query & Performance Basics: Work with the senior team to analyze slow query logs and use basic `EXPLAIN` commands to begin understanding query performance.
• Deployment Support: Assist in applying safe schema changes and deployments in development and staging environments using modern tooling.
• Documentation: Help create and maintain clear documentation for processes, procedures, and system configurations.
• Collaboration: Shadow senior DBAs as they consult with architects, development teams, providing you exposure to how database design influences application performance.
• Willingness to learn advance performance Tuning & Optimization and Designing High Availability & Disaster Recovery Systems
• Automation of Database Tasks via Scripting 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

(Education, Qualification/Skills/Behaviors, and Related Experiences.)

• MySQL Version 8+
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, or completion of a recognized coding boot-camp with a data focus, or equivalent hands-on project experience.
• Foundational Knowledge: You must understand:
• Basic relational database concepts (tables, indexes, primary/foreign keys).
• Core SQL skills (ability to write `SELECT`, `INSERT`, `UPDATE`, `DELETE` statements, and `JOIN` tables).
• Basic Linux command-line navigation.
• Strong desire to build a deep technical career in database administration.
• Problem-Solving Aptitude and ready to participate in discussing logical approaches to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Familiarity with a scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Exposure to version control systems, preferably Git.
